Mrs Funnybones by Twinkle Khanna is one of the cult book, a perfect combo which has a decent mix of sarcasm and boredom of daily chores and how the protagonist is living her life one day at a time with support from the Man of The House and Prodigal Son!
While we all are aware how Mrs Akshay Kumar is sassy and witty with words, Mrs Funnybones is one of the classic examples that speak about our day to day life and how we are unable to find humour in those odd situations. Mrs Twinkle Khanna has done an excellent job while portraying her life as a regular homemaker and a businesswoman who has a number of household tasks to be done with due support from the army of servants at her disposal. She takes care of the home, her children, her loving husband and also her work and at the same time managed to throw sarcasm at every ploy she finds funny.
The chapters in the book are written in A-Z fashion where she describes episodes from her life in the funniest way possible. She spoke out some tough rules. One of them being- Karwa Chauth is not helping anyway in improving mortality rate and why it is important to know the difference between trying and holding on. There are some funny incidences as well which makes you laugh out loud while you are still imagining words in pictures. For instance, Khanna narrates that what happened when one day she decides to go for evening walk rather than running as she has lost the stamina as she used to have like in school days. But in the very next moment, she was chasing two eve-teasers for almost 20 minutes.
She has intelligently involved few stories about her mother’s love for decorative interiors and how she is insistent on placing antiques in their home, wherever she finds empty space. While Khanna has given some new age motherhood rules where she allows her children to be inquisitive. Khanna also shares a love-hate relationship with her mother-in-law and portrays how the lady has managed to keep the family together with so many cousins and their progeny gathering up for a unison celebration of Raksha Bandhan.
Undoubtedly, Khanna is an amazing story teller and she has miles to go while being the sassiest writers of the country.
